Introduction

I am the information mercenary. I go wherever adventure takes me and an information warrior is needed. I carry all the tools I need on a laptop.

What's this Blog About

This blog is about convergence journalism and information for my upcoming Graduate school communications class from SNHU. You can visit www.informationmerc.com for more of my work.

Who Am I

I was born and raised in Indiana. I joined the US Army Reserve in 1999. I went to Ball State University and graduated with a degree in Telecommunications, Radio TV and Film Production. I was commissioned as a Field Artillery Officer in the U.S. Army upon graduation and was stationed in Germany. I was also a Logistics officer and eventually a Public Affairs Officer where I served for the last 12 years of my career. I served in multiple units from the tactical to the strategic level and deployed twice to Iraq, once to Afghanistan, and once to the defeat of ISIS mission in Iraq. I have experience conducting consequence management and disaster response communications, including being one of the first PAOs on the scene after the Nidal Hassan shooting at Fort Hood in 2009.

My last official day in the Army after 22 years of service is Jan. 1, 2021.

What Do I Want to Do

For all of my adult life, I had a mission. I am looking for a new mission, more of a calling. I would like to have a career in public relations, public affairs or strategic communications.
